Alpaca is cute and loving domesticated species resembles with small llama. Alpaca is South American camelid species belong to vicugna genus and camelidae family. Alpaca is camelid family member but not as tempered and smells as llamas. Alpacas are intelligent, social, enquiring and sensitive breed generate larger amount or yarn so they are more profitable and economical. They give quick response to gentle handling and easy to handle. Alpaca are herding animals they way they are social and behave genteelly with other Alpacas. History

Alpaca are herding animals breed as livestock valuable animal as it generate higher amount of yarn and also known as fiber animal. South America People love to eat alpaca. It’s fiber turner in yarn that used to manufacture felt and fabric. Alpaca are grazing animal found at the heights of Andes of southern Peru, Northern Bolivia where is consistently remain at the altitude of 11500ft- 1600ft above the sea level throughout the year. In 18h and 19th century South American lamoid species scientifically named and alpaca declared as descendent of llama. Alpaca domestically breeding as life stock form thousands of years and assume Vicuna wild ancestor of alpaca.

Alpaca are smaller than llama as greater from Vicuna. Alpaca are divided in two different types as Huacaya and Suri. Huacaya found in rich number in united state as it cover 80% of markers. Both are different due to their fleece structure. Huacaya have short and dense fleece while Suri has longer, smooth and silky fleece. Huacaya produce more fleece than Suri as Huacaya give 2-3-5 kg fleece after being shorn while Suri just 2.5 kg.

Alpaca are social animal live in families which have territorial alpha male, females and their young ones. Alpaca have different personalities some alpaca are passive and shy, fewer are dominant and proud while other are boisterous and good-looking. They amazingly bound with other herd members. Keeping an alpaca as pets makes your life richer and cheerful. It’s interesting to spend in watching and strolling among them. They have great fun around them. Alpaca are intelligent and easy to train as keeping them as pet. They are best substitute of other livestock such as sheep, camel, and horses. Alpaca are good pet if you have children in your family. You have to show patience and tolerate behaviors while handling alpaca. They mostly prefer to live with herd members then alone. Alpaca are good with children which involves two factor first who your child behave with him seconds keep them observation with interact. Alpaca are not grazing animals using dung pile.

Sounds

Alpaca have different sounds used to communicate with other herd members just like high-pitched and shrieking sound made when they feel dangers. They wark when feel excited they make a soft palate or low sound in their nasal cavity when show their friendly behaviors.

Alpaca are herding pets best live in backyard with fences and boundaries. They are social it better to keep them in herd. They enjoy other alpaca company. Their coat or fleece gives them protection form environment changes.

Diet

Alpaca need small amount of food in relation to their body size. Hay and grasses are they common food. They also eat plants and leaves. Alpaca do not graze dung pile for hygienic purpose. They chew anything that comes in their sights just like plastic bottle. Low protein hay and naturally grow grass is good food for alpaca. Bracken fern, fireweed, bear grass, autumn crocus, agave, orange tree, castor and many more plants are poisonous plants for alpaca. Provide plenty of water to alpaca.
