Can You Own Golden Pheasant as Pet




Golden pheasant is belonging to pheasant family. They can also known as Chinese pheasant. It cans also most popular pheasant species. Colorful pretty bird is more attractive for people basically a forest woodland habitat but their beauty people keep as pet.


Golden pheasant is native from western china. Their genus name is ancient Greek Khrusolophos. Their population is founded in United Kingdom, United States Canada Mexico, Colombia and many other countries.

Life span:


Golden pheasant average life span is 5 to 6 years.

Physical appearance:


Golden pheasant is beautiful multi colored and rare bird. People like it and keep as pet. Both male and female can differentiate with each other on the basis of their body color. Male pheasant size is 90 to 105 and female pheasant size is also 60 to 80 cm.  Their body weight is 630 gm. Male and female are pheasant is different in their appearance. Male pheasant is quickly recognized as their bright color. They can golden yellow crested and red at the tip. Their face side of neck chin throat is in rusty tan. Female are also less colorful as their appearance. They are mottled brown plumage. Their face throat breast is al pale brown color. Both of male and female are having yellow feet and beak.

Personality traits:


Golden pheasant are very timid bird so they can live in dark. During day light they can dense forest and woodland. During night they can at the top of tree. They are basically woodland bird but they can make good pet at proper care at home.



Golden pheasant are like to eat ground grains, berries, grubs, invertebrates and also feed other kind of vegetables.  When you can own as pet then take care of their diet.



Golden pheasant are like to live in forest and woodland or undergrowth area. When you can keep as pet then provide aviary for living natural woodland habitat.



Golden pheasant are best breading bird. Female golden pheasant lay 8 to 12 eggs in month of April. Their incubated time is round about 22 to 23 days. Their chicks can fledge after 12 to 14 days after incubating.
