Chipmunk is cuter sciuridae family member find in tinier size become lovely pet. Rodent chipmunk is a type of squirrel commonly found in North America. These breed may become long time companion with greater care. Chipmunks are gentle in nature and striped body which make it more appealing.
Chipmunks are active, energetic, snooping and ecofriendly little creation play important role in seedling. These are amazing pets need special care and affection form their owner.

Personality

Chipmunks are innocent look but don’t forget that they are wild creation. Young Chipmunks don’t allow you to come near them even they can harm you if you touch them.  Are you feel sad don’t do this because they attached whit you if you spend plenty of tie with them when they are in earlier age. Chipmunks have diurnal nature.  You found them active throughout the day. Chipmunks do not like to live in exposed spaces.  They become friendly and affectionate pet with you interactions.

Appearance

Chipmunks are smaller breeds belong to squirrel family grow just up to 10 inches in length.  Darker and lighter strips over body make it more attractive. These rodents live about three years yet in greater captivity then live more than eight years.

Housing

Chipmunks need plenty of space to live where they play and climb easily. Chipmunks are perfect climber so keeps them is wired cages. 4feet wide and 2 feet deep cage is best for adult Chipmunks. They are gentle and cleaning natures so clean their cage daily. Nest boxes, wood chip bedding and tree branches allow him to stash food, sleeping and climbing.

Food

Chipmunks are omnivore eats plants, fruits, vegetables and nuts with in huge variety as well as fungi, insects and arthropods. Chipmunks need enough food as they store some food for hibernation during wintery seasons. They also cache food in a larder that found in their burrows.  Provide non perishable food during autumn seasons and don’t disturb their nest because they sneak food there.

Grooming

Chipmunks have cleaned nature consistantely groom their body and do not leave any odor. So there is no need of bathing or any grooming.

Exercise

Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation need to you Chipmunks pet. Bring them out of cage every day and give him time to play of climb. You can add branches and other climbing material in cage to provide natural habitation.

Care

Chipmunks do not like to expose them so set their cage in corner or place where cage attached with wall. Chipmunks have greater threat for predators.  Keep them away from cats, birds, dogs and other carnivores.

Chewing

Chipmunks are keen of chewing nuts and branches. It’s not for entertainment it important for their health. Give them pine cone, walnuts, cutless stones or dried corn cobs which they used for chewing.
